It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's Another Superhero Movie!
56Hal Jordan
A Healthy Green Glow
Test pilot Hal Jordan stumbles upon an incredible gift, a powerful ring that turns him into one of the greatest superheroes in the world. He protects the universe along with his fellow green lanterns from the Green Lantern Corps located on the planet OA. Together, they fight to purge evil from the universe. Hal Jordan has been through much over the years. After devastating the world and destroying whole cities, he was forced into becoming the Spectre, a being who punishes those in the name of revenge, only to be once again reborn as the ultimate hero, The Green Lantern.
Another Notch On His Belt
Like many of the other great heroes of all time, Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man, etc..., the Green Lantern will be viewed on the big screen. Scheduled to be released in 2011, the Green Lantern movie will be staring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, introducing this incredible character to the world. Currently coming off of his role as Deadpool in the blockbuster Wolverine, one would say Ryan has the experience. He has also been seen in Smokin' Aces, an action film with so many twists and turns that it might as well have been an M. Night Shamalan movie. But the bulk of his career comes from romantic comedies such as Definitely Maybe, Just Friends, and others. But is he truly qualified to take on he biggest role of his career?
The Choices
Why Ry?
So why Ryan Reynolds? I honestly don't know. He is a sub-par actor with a Dane Cook Type personality that teens seem to like, for whatever reason. He did do a nice job in his role as Deadpool in X-men Origins: Wolverine, but only because he was in two scenes, and in the second one his mouth was sewn up and he couldn't talk. Ryan was born to play Deadpool since both men are unfunny and caught in professions that they have no business in. By no means is he qualified to star as Hal Jordan. Fortunately he was chosen over the other options, one of which was Justin Timberlake, a man who's role in the Love Guru proved that he is better off sticking to his music career and leaving acting to the professionals. After viewing Terminator Salvation, my pick for G.L. would be Sam Worthington, a good actor with the right personality attached. Unfortunately, it's not up to me, and I fear that the world of comic lovers is doomed to be disappointed by Reynolds portrayal of this icon.

After the release of D.C.'s Blackest Night series, the popularity of the Green Lantern is higher than ever. Maybe Reynolds will prove to be a good Hal Jordan, maybe not. But the truth of the matter is that this movie will more than likely be bellow the standards of this blogger.
